As always, many of you ask me how it is down here right now in terms of politics.
Since President Trump has taken office, I would say it has been anything but quiet here. Protests over numerous Executive Orders, unlawfully tearing down departments and freezing funding, not to mention many shadow employees accessing and reviewing sensitive information without proper clearance and guardrails (and when they did stick up they were fired or removed).
I won't get into the politics of this, as there are many things I have heard and seen from people. I will say, there is a lot that you should weigh on your mind. It's always uncomfortable to hear comparisons to that of other moments in world history, but if I have learned anything from the over 3000 hours of studying, analyzing, writing, on politics it is this: we will never agree until the damage has been done. So, if you want me to cover the damage that could be unfolding before your eyes, please let me know. This is not Left vs Right, Me vs. You, this is about showing you another perspective. One rooted in over 3000 hours of education, research, presenting data, and the 3 years I spent at the number one college for political science.
But, enough with the politics of the century, for the most part, I have remained on the outside of these events. I have done this because I know many of you fear for my safety and right now, I also want to keep myself within the confines of safety for as much as I can. While I have done my own part with advancing some of these concerns, I know that my expertise can be used in other areas for as long as I can keep them there.
If there is anything you do want me to cover, whether that be a protest, you want some pictures of one of the monuments, or even if there is a coffee shop or bakery you have seen here that you want my feedback on – please let me know! I am more than happy to explore and report back for those of you unable to venture out the way I can!
